Tonight I read and thoroughly enjoyed three of my classmates' collections, these were written by Meghan Doherty, Chip Geeson and Sarah Tribble respectively.

The first is Meghan Doherty's. This collection deals with the representation of people who are overweight in media and as one would expect it's a depressing read in some regards. The disrespect and condescension on display from the film industry is a sad state of affairs and Doherty does a commendable job in giving her opinion as someone who considers herself a part of the group the film industry is going out of its way to mock. There is only one film in this collection that she considers a positive depiction of overweight people and that is a sad reflection of the film industry. (1)

The second by Chip Geeson and deals with mechanics in video games and as a gamer, this interested me. I really have no objective problems with this only a few minor disagreements, I think all of the mechanics discussed are done so in an interesting and informative fashion. each of these mechanics, with the exception of failed states. have been something the game industry has forced on players the world over at one time or another, especially microtransactions, often to the detriment of games and I very much enjoy the even-handed look at each of them. The only real bit of constructive criticism I have is the use of microtransactions in order for free games to make money is never mentioned and I think when done correctly in free to play games microtransactions can be okay. The last is by Sarah Tribble and relates to Audiobooks a concept near and dear to my heart. as someone who has dyslexia, I have real issues with regular books and audiobooks eliminate this for me.n however, this list does not bring up this point, while it is important to me personally, it's not an argument I expect as so few people have dyslexia. all of these points I think are well thought out and argued for effectively, some of which I had not considered and very much agree with for example the point about prose the correct accent. The only thing I don't like is that the post comes off a bit like a sales pitch for Audible, but Audible is an excellent service so that may just be me.

Overall I think my peers did a great job and I look forward to reading more of their work in the future.
